I Survived Mr. Koo's Wild Ride 12/26/09

Don't know if im too late on this but i thought it had to be in there,

My favorite game of the decadewas week 17 of 2002 8-7 jets vs 12-3 packers. A this point the jets are one game out of 1st in the division. Miami was 9-6 and New England was 8-7 too. The Pats and Dolphins played against each otherthat same day. A pats win and jets win meant the jets get the division title. but they were the 1:00 game and the Jets played at 4. So we assumed (me my dad and my brother) that we would know wether this game meant anything by the the start.

But the game wasn't over by 4. We walked into the stadium with the pats and fins neck and neck with half a quarter to go.

we watched the first 8 minutes of the jets game but you could tell from the stadium that everyones mind was on the miami, new england game. Then after a long incomplete from Brett Favre, a huge seemingly unprovoked roar came and after about a half a second everyone who didn't have a radio knew what it was. The jets went on to win the game and the division. (which noone seems to remember) It was just that huge joyous scream from everyone in the stadium that sticks i my mind.

I am 59 years old, and I was born and raised in Washington DC. I grew up with bad baseball teams, but they were my guys, so I always rooted for them and went to about a dozen games a year. When we finally got a team back in 2005, I got tickets to Opening Day in Philly. My brother, a friend and I took the train up, and the subway to the ballpark. They lost of course, but just seeing a team on the field with Washington on their jerseys was enough for me that day. I went to the game when they had their home opener against the D-Backs, and it was magic. They won, RFK was packed and rocking, and 34 years without a team was wiped away. And they actually were in first place for over a month.
